Moores Honours Apprenticeships at House of Lords

Here at Moores kitchens and bathrooms we take an active role in offering training and apprenticeship programmes for our employees.

To support this we have been working with a subsidiary of Vision West Nottinghamshire College, Safety Plus training for the last six years and are currently working with Vision Apprentices to formulate a partnership to deliver a number of apprenticeship programmes. These programmes are not just designed to benefit apprentices at Moores head office in Wetherby, but also our labour only sub-contract workforce in local communities across the country.

Following the work done by Moores to develop field based employees and sub contractors, Vision West Nottinghamshire College invited us to the House of Lords in the summer of 2013 which held an event to celebrate the thirty top-performing apprentices from across the UK. Moores HSE Learning & Development Co-ordinator, Steve Knight and Head of HR, Steve Thompson attended this prestigious event, which also recognised employers for their commitment, resources and support in the regional growth that apprenticeships bring to local communities.

The House of Lords celebration was hosted by cross-bench peer Baroness Prashar CBE and guest speaker, Skills Minister MP Matthew Hancock. Describing the work of Vision West Nottinghamshire College as “impressive”, Mr Hancock contributed this to a successful track record working with SEMs and major companies.

Mr Hancock also said of the event “The apprenticeship system is vital for making sure we have the skills as a nation to compete on the global stage, so it’s great to have the opportunity to recognise the hard work that young people put into their apprenticeships and congratulate them on their success.”

Having identified a need to train, develop and support anyone that works on a new build site Moores have already trained and developed all our own employees in conjunction with Safety Plus Ltd, which supports them in achieving a relevant NVQ for their job roles.

With on-going involvement in training programmes, Moores are continuing to support apprentices directly and through our sub-contract workforce. For further information contact us here.
